Our Team

Simon

Manager, Owner and front of house.

Local cycling enthusiast, triathlete and IRONMAN Simon, purchased Launceston Cycles in February 2020 in a bid to turn his passion into a business and share his love for the sport with others.

Simon began cycling in 2011 to improve his quality of life, enjoying mainly social rides and sportive events.
In 2012 Simon and colleagues from D S Smith packaging took part in an epic challenge, cycling 1000 miles over ten days raising an enormous £100,000 for charity.

It didn’t take long for Simon to introduce Swimming and Running to his training and in 2016 he entered his first sprint distance Triathlon close to home in Bude. It wasn’t long before he set his sights high with plans to enter his first full distance IRONMAN two years later.

IRONMAN Barcelona came first in 2018 followed by 2 full distance IRONMAN events in 2019 within just three weeks of each other, IRONMAN Wales and IRONMAN Barcelona.

Simon continues to train for upcoming competitions and events.

Simon rides a Giant Propel and a Giant Trinity, a coastal ride enjoying the stretch between Widemouth and Bude would be his ride of choice.

Simon takes his coffee extra shot, extra hot and would never say no to a slice of cake.

Jamie

Meet Jamie our newest member of the team. Here’s a little background to get to know him but pop in and say hello as he loves chatting about all things bike!

“ I started riding bikes as soon as I could throw my leg over the saddle, starting on a BMX, transitioning to cross country, then at the age of 14 getting into downhill mountain biking. As trail bikes improved I transitioned again into enduro racing and have been doing that for the last few years with a focus towards National events this year and a big push towards the high end of the results board.”

“Having spent some of my early working life around bike shops I then moved into the world of logistics and latterly have been both instructing and driving in the HGV world. However, now at 31, it’s time for me to change careers and make a living out of what is my dream job.”

“Having fixed every conceivable problem or broken part on my own bikes I have a considerable amount of experience enabling me to make the transition to workshop technician for Launceston Cycles the perfect match. Alongside gaining my Cytech Qualifications this really is something I am looking forward to.”
